Archive for Cobo

DUI lawyer Daniel Hajji has his hands full Convicted felon and probation violator Kwame Kilpatrick apparently took lots of money from convicted felon Karl Kado. Bernard “Killer” Kilpatrick got even more of that delicious Cobo money from Kado. No wonder Kilpatrick is having a difficult time paying his restitution. No one gives him large envelopes full of cash anymore. Unless C. Montgomery “Matty”... Read more→

Ending the Michigan Promise scholarship is the greatest injustice ever Jennifer Granholm is still really angry about signing a budget that ends the Michigan Promise scholarship. Those mean legislators made her do it. Now it’s up to college students to fire (her word) those meanies because, absent a scholarship that basically pays for books, no one can afford college ever again. Ha ha, it’s not... Read more→

Is Rochelle Riley’s remarkably sexist drivel intentional, or just some horrible mistake? If the day comes when an obituary is written for the internet pamphlets that are Detroit’s newspapers, banality will be one cause of death. And Rochelle Riley surely will be a reason just as smoking is a reason of lung cancer. Apparently under the delusion that we continue to live in a perpetual 1947, Riley... Read more→

Tom Barrow will protect our precious jewels Oh this again. Seems that Joann Watson was unsuccessful in securing stimulus funds for the Cobo Hall expansion but, have no fear, reality remains unable to penetrate the thick skulls of Detroit’s unemployable activist class. Now they want…wait for it…bailout out money for Cobo. And the anti-Cobo’s have a new ally, perennial mayoral candidate Tom... Read more→

City Council devolves into bizarre art house film To truly appreciate City Council one must understand City Council through the lens of film school terminology. This is not a neo-realist work. Council is an avant-garde expression of the abstract. Just consider the dialectical symbolism of the lighting as it bounces off Barbara-Rose Collins’ ever larger forehead. What does that tell us about humanity?... Read more→

Lansing groping Detroit’s precious jewels again These slobs still think Detroit will let them take over Cobo Hall’s $15,000,000 annual operating deficit so the facility can remain the state’s premier convention venue. Well, they have another thing coming. Detroit will rise to defend our precious jewels even in it requires all the grapes in Eastern Market. Leading the charge is boy-legislator... Read more→

John Cherry is liked, but not well liked John Cherry has something of an image problem. People think of him as a heavy-set backroom dealer. He’s a little like Charley to Jennifer Granholm’s Willie Loman. Willie’s sons are athletes and he bought silk stockings for hussies in Boston. Meanwhile Charley quietly built a successful business and his son is a lawyer. Maybe John Cherry isn’t the Democrats’... Read more→

Michigan eagerly awaits its own I-35 bridge collapse Nothing says responsible government like canceling necessary road repairs! Especially bridge and overpass repairs. This is even better than adding a layer of plywood to the bottom of crumbling bridges so chucks of concrete didn’t hit anyone’s car. Really, if you’re unable to avoid a giant chunk of falling concrete then maybe you shouldn’t... Read more→

Oh it was all a silly mistake. Glad we cleared that up. Convicted felon Kwame Kilpatrick was supposed to pay $6000 of his $1,000,000 restitution last month but only paid $2500. And that was three days late. Oh hamburgers, sounds like a parole violation! According to Kilpatrick’s lawyer, the whole thing was a misunderstanding. See Kilpatrick mistakenly thought his restitution payment was $2500 and... Read more→

God help us if a real crime comes to Birmingham A couple months ago, Dan Gilbert and David Hall had a slap flight at a Bar Mitzvah. That’s how real men settle their differences. When the altercation became public, they hire the biggest and most expensive lawyers in town. Dan Gilbert is too beautiful for jail. Meanwhile Birmingham’s finest are still investigating the case. Why not? Other than... Read more→
